The Bogalusa High School-Based Health Center (SBHC) joined the Access Health Louisiana family during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in Washington Parish on the campus of Bogalusa High School. The 2,000 square foot clinic is easily accessible for middle and high school students because it is centrally located on the second floor of the main building. Students can visit the health center and parents can request that their child receive immunizations or check-ups by communicating information to the Health Center Director or Nurse Practitioner on staff. All students must have a current consent and enrollment form on file at the health center in order to be seen by medical staff. Consent and enrollment forms are sent home at the beginning of the year; however, parents may sign their child up for services at any time during the school year. You can download copies of both forms from this webpage or obtain a copy through the school office.
Nurse Practitioner Julia Kreger offers children and adolescents immunizations, well & sick visits, sports physicals, as well as acute and diagnostic care. Mrs. Kreger enjoys working in school-based healthcare. She is assisted by Registered Nurse, Katasha August who also serves as the Health Center Director. Licensed Clinical Social Worker Leah Jenkins offers counseling and support services for students including: stress and anger management, dealing with anxiety, bullying, substance abuse, grief counseling and communication. Data Processing Clerk Stacy Knight can assist students with scheduling appointments throughout the school day.
Co-payments are waived for all students and faculty/staff enrolled at our SBHC. Commercial insurances including Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. Students who are uninsured can also receive care with a consent and enrollment form on file with the health center. Any medications prescribed for your child may be filled through out Access Health Louisiana Pharmacy and delivered to your home. We also work with nearby pharmacies and can have most prescriptions filled at a discounted rate.
Students needing emergency care after hours, please call 9-1-1. For students needing to continue their care throughout the summer or on school breaks, visit Nurse Practitioner Bobby Denson at the Washington Community Health Center (CHC) located at 2807 South Columbia Street in Bogalusa (just 5 minutes from Bogalusa High School). The Washington CHC is a member of the Access Health Louisiana Network. Students registered with Access Health Louisiana through the Bogalusa High SBHC do not need to re-register for care when seen at the Washington CHC. For appointments or information, please call (985) 281-2154.
