Time to schedule your sports physical!

The Fisher Middle/High School-Based Health Center (SBHC) is one of eleven school health center service sites operated by Access Health Louisiana in Jefferson Parish.  It is located in Marrero on the west bank side of the Mississippi River on the campus of Fisher Middle/High School.

This year, telemedicine appointments are offered for Primary Care and Behavioral Health services for any student participating in virtual learning from home!

The Fisher Middle/High SBHC offers behavioral health services conveniently located on campus during the school day.  Licensed Clinical Social Worker Serena Walker offers counseling and support services for students including:  stress and anger management, dealing with anxiety, bullying, substance abuse, grief counseling, and communication.  Psychiatric care is available through Dr. Fei Chen of Tulane Psychiatry if needed.

Students needing to access primary care during the school day may be transported via school van to the neighboring campus of Truman School. There, Nurse Practitioner Nicole Taylor offers children and adolescents immunizations, well & sick visits, sports physicals, as well as acute and diagnostic care. She is assisted by Registered Nurse Whitney Burnam. Students must have a completed transportation form on file with the school-based health center in order to be driven to and from primary care services during the day.

Students can visit the health center and parents can request that their child receive immunizations or check-ups by communicating information with the health center staff.  All students must have a current consent and enrollment form on file at the health center in order to be seen by medical staff.  Consent and enrollment forms are sent home at the beginning of the year; however, parents may sign their child up for services at any time during the school year.  Online fillable consent forms are available on the right side of this webpage.

Co-payments are waived for all students and faculty/staff enrolled at our SBHC.  Commercial insurances including Medicaid and Medicare are accepted.  Students who are uninsured can also receive care with a consent and enrollment form on file with the health center.  Any medications prescribed for your child may be filled through out Access Health Louisiana Pharmacy and delivered to your home.  We also work with nearby Walgreens and CVS pharmacies and can have most prescriptions filled at a discounted rate.

Students needing emergency care after hours, please call 9-1-1.
