The Iberville Alternative Positive Program for Students (IAPPS) Health Center is located in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The health center is located on campus in the main school building. It serves the student population of IAPPS, as well as faculty and staff. All students must have a current consent and enrollment form on file at the health center in order to be seen by our providers. Consent and enrollment forms are sent home at the beginning of the school year; however, parents may sign their child up at any time during the year.
Licensed Professional Counselor Markita Anderson offers counseling and support services to students including: stress and anger management, dealing with anxiety, bullying, substance abuse, trauma, grief counseling and communication skills. Nurse Practitioner Courtney Breaud provides primary care services for students. Mrs. Breaud is a proud Plaquemine High mom and is excited to help educate students about proper nutrition. She is assisted by Jael Kitts, LPN. Ms. Kitts also serves as front desk administrator.
The school-based health center does not replace your child’s pediatrician or outside therapist/psychiatrist. On your consent form, you will be asked to list contact information for your child’s pediatrician, therapist, psychiatrist, and/or dentist so that our school-based staff can keep them informed of any follow-up your child may need.
Co-pays are waived for all students and faculty/staff enrolled at our health center. Commercial insurances including Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. Students who are uninsured can also receive care with a consent and enrollment form on file with the health center. Any medications prescribed for your child may be filled through our Access Health Louisiana Pharmacy and delivered to your home. We also work with nearby Walgreens pharmacies and can have most prescriptions filled at a discounted rate.
Students needing emergency care after school hours, please call 9-1-1.
