Medicaid Continuous Coverage is Ending – Update Your Contact Information!

In March of 2020, Louisiana Medicaid changed some of its eligibility rules in response to the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. These changes included stopping closures for most Medicaid members. Recently, the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act was passed. This act ends the continuous Medicaid coverage and, starting in April 2023, Medicaid will re-start reviewing eligibility for Medicaid members and closing anyone who is no longer eligible.

When will this impact my coverage?

The redetermination process starting in April will impact the renewal population for June of 2023. The letters about closures will start being mailed out late April/May. The first closures will be effective on July 1st, 2023. Keep an eye out for Medicaid “pink letters” that will be mailed out to all members to confirm their contact information. If you do not get your pink letter by the first of April, please update your contact information with Medicaid. See different ways to update your contact information below.

Do I need to respond?

Though some eligibility can be completed by using information from online databases, many Medicaid members will need to provide additional information regarding their eligibility. For the Medicaid department to be able to contact you for additional information, it is imperative that your cell phone number and email address are updated. LDH will allow individuals to submit requested information over the phone, via mail or email, online, and in-person. Even if you are eligible, members who do not respond to requests for additional information will be at risk of losing their coverage.

How can I update my contact information?

The LDH offers multiple ways to update your information.

We at Access Health Louisiana know that this transition can be overwhelming. If you have any questions about eligibility or how the ending of continuous coverage for Medicaid may impact you, please call 866-530-6111 and ask to speak to one of our Medicaid enrollment staff.
