Dr. MarkAlain Dery receives Top Honor
Dr. MarkAlain Dery, DO, MPH, FACOI has been named “Internist of the Year” by the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI). Dr. Dery is the Chief Innovation Officer for Access Health Louisiana, as well as the Medical Director for the AIDS Education and Training Center in New Orleans. He was nominated by Dr. Gerald Blackburn, DO, MACOI for his outstanding efforts surrounding teaching, research and education. “This is really quite an honor,” says Dr. Dery. “I am moved beyond words to be recognized by my peers at the American College of Osteopathic Internist as Internist of the Year for 2020. This has been such a challenging year for health care workers across the globe, especially those who are on the front lines of managing patients with COVID-19; so much heroism, courage, and fearlessness. I am inspired by the collective spirit of valiancy demonstrated by health care workers around the world- so, it is to all those on the front line that I dedicate this recognition to.” Dr. Dery was honored at the ACOI’s Virtual Conference in October during the Convocation of Fellows.
