It’s that time of the year again and Access Health Louisiana is gearing up for the 5th Annual Access Health Louisiana “Washington Parish Drug Take Back”.

Each year has been a progressive success in prescription collections.  Access Health Louisiana partnered with the Sheriff Department and collected 37lbs of unwanted medications in 2024.  This helped greatly with keeping medications out of the hands of those that it may not have been of benefit.  Washington Parish has had many challenges with Substance Use Abuse, and Access Health Louisiana has been steadily working to make a difference by educating the community regarding Substance and Opioid Abuse via annual drug take backs, Finish Strong Youth events, distribution of deterra, Narcan, fentanyl strips, offering Medication Assisted Treatment, counseling, and psychiatry services.  This initiative is another great opportunity to assist Washington Parish Residents with safely discarding their unwanted medications.   Our sustainability community major partner this year is Healthy Blue.  There will be turkeys & a lite lunch given away to those that turn in unwanted medications (while supplies last). ONE TURKEY PER CAR.  Any AHL Staff interested in coming out to volunteer & support this great outreach is welcomed.
