Storm Preparations

The state of Louisiana is bracing for a possible hurricane to develop mid-week in the Gulf of Mexico. The tropical disturbance is currently located off the Texas/Mexico coast and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane later in the week. As the storm moves closer, flooding, rainfall, and storm surge will bring strong winds and possible tornadoes. All residents are asked to make storm preparations now including stocking up on water, food supplies, batteries/candles, and prescription medication refills if needed. The Access Health Louisiana can help all patients with prescription assistance. Contact the pharmacy by calling 1-985-785-5826 or toll free 1-833-556-6290.

Louisiana’s Get a Game Plan website is a vital resource for families before, during, and after a storm. The website contains links to an emergency preparedness guide, an app for smartphones, and a podcast with the latest storm information. You can visit the Get a Game Plan website by clicking here.

It is also important for all residents to download their individual parish’s emergency operations center alerts. This is how local parish governments will communicate with residents before, during, and after a storm. The alert allows you to find out about road closures, possible evacuation routes, sand bag distributions, and more. Click on any parish below to be linked to the individual parish’s emergency alert text messages. You can sign up for multiple parishes to help out families living in other areas.
