Support those fighting Cancer in our Community
Louisiana has the third highest breast cancer death rate in the country according to the Louisiana Cancer Prevention & Controls Program. Early detection is key to saving lives. Giving back to organizations committed to finding a cure for this deadly disease is also key. Each year, Access Health Louisiana (AHL) and its employees participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event is being held virtually. With many breast cancer survivors on staff, as well as family members who have loved ones with breast cancer, the Komen Foundation is near and dear to the Access Health Louisiana family.
When is the Virtual Race?
This year’s virutal Race for the Cure is being held on Saturday, October 24th. AHL’s team is called the “Movers & the Shakers”. Please help support the Komen Foundation in its efforts to help provide mammogram screenings to uninsured women in our community, as well as diagnostic screenings. Together, we can all help do our part to find a cure for breast cancer.
How to Participate & Help Raise Money
To participate in this year’s virtual Komen Race for the Cure, click here. You will be redirected to the Komen New Orleans website. You will see “Access Health Louisiana is More than Pink.” Select either “Start a Team with Us” or “Join Our Team with Us”. The “Start a Team with Us” is an option for people who want to form a team with friends and walk under the Access Health Louisiana team. “Join Our Team with Us” is for people who are walking individually under the AHL team.
Participants who raise $100 or more will receive a Komen Race for the Cure t-shirt. Breast cancer survivors who register for the virtual race will receive a special pink shirt from the Komen Foundation regardless of their fundraising total.
