Healthy Blue Louisiana’s Innovator Award
Access Health Louisiana (AHL) is the inaugural national recipient of the “Bona Fide Blue” Innovator Award. In fact, AHL is the first Federally Qualified Health Center Medicaid provider, to be recognized for this distinguished honor. Healthy Blue Louisiana, Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Managed Care Organization for Medicaid recipients, announced the new program called “Bona Fide Blue” to recognize provider organizations who share a commitment to caring for patients at the highest levels of quality and innovation. “Bona Fide” being the Latin term meaning high achievement. There has always been a platform or mechanism to recognize provider organizations on the Commercial side, but nothing like this existed on the Medicaid side nationwide for Anthem. Anthem is the corporation under which Blue Cross Blue Shield operates nationwide.
Access Health Louisiana was selected based on its collaboration in highly strategic, innovative pilot programs, and clinical initiatives for the past two years with Healthy Blue. For instance, AHL was the first provider organization to participate and pilot BCBS’s Quality Blue Primary Care (QBPC) outcomes-based incentive program which includes technology integrations between both AHL’s Electronic Health Record and BCBS’s data aggregators. AHL was also the first Medicaid provider partner to launch a Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) program targeting Healthy Blue and BCBS’ chronic disease patients. Healthy Blue also recognized AHL’s dedication and commitment as a partner during the COVID-19 pandemic as it operated field-based COVID-19 testing clinics during the peak of the pandemic.
Access Health Louisiana was also recognized for its vision and innovative approaches toward participating with Healthy Blue in pilot programs centered on transitional care navigation with the Louisiana Office of Behavioral Health, serving as a test site for the Integrated Collaborative Care Model, and a pilot provider participant to screen, report, and assist patients for social determinants. Lastly, AHL was recognized for its leaders’ involvement with the Louisiana Department of Health’s Quality Committee and commitment to ensuring high quality, evidence-based care.
