The Holiday Festival and Health Screenings community event was very impactful and offered Mammograms, Flu Shots, Vision, & Blood Pressure screenings. Residents were able to take a walk under the blow up colon, pick up educational health handouts including cancer prevention awareness, nutrition and healthy eating and so much more. Harm reduction education & supplies were distributed. Children worked on crafts and cheered for Sparky the firefighter for participating in health screenings! Mrs Claus handed out Fresh fruits, veggies, turkeys & hams to adults that completed screenings and they were entered into raffles for a chance to win prizes. There were 119 screenings completed and those without primary care physicians were given information about the St Tammany Community Health Center of Slidell. We were grateful to partner with Krewe of Selene Magnolias, Walgreens, St Tammany “Be Well Bus”, Sam’s Vision Screenings, Louisiana Department of Health, Lacombe Fire Department, Lishman’s, Catalyst for Change Group, and Suga Rose Cafe & Flowers.
