Access Health Louisiana (AHL) is teaming up with 504HealthNet to help improve access and care to local hospitality workers. 504HealthNet held its annual Healthy Hospitality Initiative kick-off on January 31st at the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) at 725 Howard Avenue. The goal of the kick-off event was for local agencies to get a better understanding of the healthcare needs of local hospitality workers, to increase access to care for special populations and commit to participating in the Healthy Hospitality Initiative to address those needs. AHL staff in attendance included: Nurse Practitioner Rhea Kyles, Donna Copelin, Patrick Murphy and Victoria Alexis.
New Orleans’ thrives off its multi-million dollar hospitality and tourism industry. Thousands of men and women make their living working as cooks, servers, bartenders, hotel staffing, entertainers, cab drivers and tourist guides in the French quarter, Central Business District and downtown area of New Orleans. However, accessing healthcare isn’t always easy. AHL’s new Primary Care location at the Pythian building located at 234 Loyola Avenue in downtown New Orleans is a great option for hospitality workers. The clinic’s centralized location makes it easy for patients to get access to healthcare even as a walk-in appointment.
Access Health Louisiana Primary Care see adults and children and offers the following services: immunizations, well and sick visits, behavioral health, discount pharmacy options with free home delivery and infectious disease care. 
Dr. MarkAlain Dery sees patients for internal medicine and infectious diseases. Nurse Practitioner Rhea Kyles sees patients for primary care. This location offers behavioral health options that are private and convenient. Kiana Gauff-Washington is a licensed clinical social worker and Kamrin Johnson is our in-house case manager. Both are ready to help you deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and more.
Paying for healthcare can be a hardship for hospitality workers. At AHL clinics, if you’re uninsured, we offer a sliding-fee discount on the services you receive. This means that the amount you pay is based off your household size and income. Some uninsured patients see a doctor for just $10. All of AHL’s clinics serve as a Medicaid application site. Our staff can help you apply for Medicaid. In addition to commercial insurances, we accept Medicaid and Medicare. It’s also good to remember that all of our locations are “safe spaces” meaning that we welcome everyone to take advantage of our great services.
