Dr. MarkAlain Déry, Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine Physican with Access Health Louisiana (AHL), spent the month of June teaching in Eastern Europe. He educated students and faculty at the Medical School of Albania about emerging infectious disease trends. Dr. Déry is passionate about his mission to fight HIV and the spread of AIDS not only in southeast Louisiana, but globally. Currently, he has more than 134 HIV patients in his care and works with each patient to get them to “undetectable” status. This means that HIV can no longer be transmitted to another person. Dr. Déry not only serves as Chief Innovation Officer with AHL, but also as the Medical Director for the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) of southeast Louisiana. At the AETC, Dr. Déry works to educate Behavioral Health and Primary Care providers on how to manage coordination of care for HIV patients. He holds training programs where therapists and medical providers can earn continuing education credits for better understanding how to detect and treat infectious diseases. If you are traveling abroad in the near future and need to get vaccinated for your trip, make an appointment with Dr. Déry. Call Access Health Louisiana Primary Care at the Pythian, 504-226-2976.
