The Luling Elementary School-Based Health Center offers primary care, behavioral health and dental services to students during the school day.   The behavioral health office is located on Luling Elementary’s campus.  Dr. Tarsha Magee is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Master’s degree from Southern University and her doctorate from Tulane University.  She offers individual and group therapy students, including telemedicine options, for students dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, bullying, study habits, and relationship issues.

Students can be seen for primary care and dental services at the neighboring St. Charles Community Health Center which is located adjacent to Luling Elementary School’s campus.  A gate was installed by the school district to allow students receiving health services to gain access to the St. Charles Community Health Center.  Students are escorted by an Access Health Louisiana medical assistant or a member of the school staff to and from campus to be seen for appointments.  Students are never left alone while at the community health center.  Pediatrician Dr. Abbey Lewis Smith and Nurse Practitioner Michelle Comboy see students for sick and well visits, immunizations, sports physicals and more.

To be seen for any school-based health services, parents must complete a consent and enrollment form and submit it to the wellness center.  Consent and enrollment forms are sent home with the students at the start of the school year; however, parents may sign their child up at any time during the year.  Copies of these forms may be found on the right side of this webpage.  Please remember that children who do not have consent forms on file cannot be seen by the clinic.  Telemedicine services are also being offered this school year to assist students taking advantage of virtual learning from home.  A separate consent form is needed for any student taking advantage of our dental services.

Co-pays are waived for all students and faculty/staff enrolled at our wellness center.   Commercial insurances including Medicaid and Medicare are accepted.  Students who are uninsured can also receive care with a consent and enrollment form on file with the wellness center.  Any medications prescribed for your child may be filled through our Access Health Louisiana Pharmacy.  Our pharmacy offers free home delivery.

Students needing emergency care after school hours, please call 9-1-1.  You can also visit our nearby St. Charles Community Health Center located at 843 Milling Avenue in Luling Monday-Thursdays 8am until 4:30 and on Friday and Saturday from 8am-noon.
