The Kenner Community Health Center is the first federally qualified health center to open its doors inside a Louisiana mall. The 7,300 square foot clinic relocated to the Esplanade Mall located at 1415 West Esplanade Ave. on June 1, 2016. The move was made to offer patients convenient hours of operation, accessibility for parking and to create a one-stop shop for family healthcare.
Patients at the Kenner clinic can select from a variety of services centrally located in one location, including: Adult and Pediatric Primary Care, Behavioral Health and WIC (click here for information on applying for WIC benefits). WIC is the federal supplemental food and nutrition program that offers healthy food choices to breastfeeding or pregnant moms and children up to five years of age. Parents can apply for WIC right on site, as well as apply for Medicaid coverage (click here to find out if you qualify for Medicaid).
Diabetes Education classes are also held at the Kenner clinic in both English and Spanish for patients trying to control their sugar levels. Classes include information on healthy eating and how to administer insulin. All are free to AHL patients. Click here for a list of current classes.
On the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 7:15am, Dr. Eric Griggs hosts “Doc Walks” inside the Esplanade Mall to promote healthy living. He meets with patients, along with their friends and family, and walks the mall offering free health advice. Everyone participating in the Doc Walks ends their exercise experience with a lite snack after at the clinic.
While most commercial insurances, Medicaid and Medicare are accepted, patients are never turned away for care due to their inability to pay. A discount sliding fee scale is offered based on a patient’s household size and income.
A benefit of being an AHL patient is access to medications through our discount pharmacy program known as 340B. Patients can save money on their medications while getting prescriptions filled at pharmacy locations close to home.
High standards of care, affordability and convenience are just some of the reasons why the Kenner Community Health Center was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. Our physicians and staff, many of whom are also bilingual, continually exceed national standards by offering higher quality of care at lower costs. This means a better overall healthcare experience for you our patient.
The Kenner Community Health Center is a member of the Access Health Louisiana (AHL) Network, the largest network of Federally Qualified Health Centers in Louisiana.
